WHAT?!?!? Each and every day of a moms life is a marathon of sorts. Especially those early years when the kiddos are shorter than us. Mine will only be shorter for 5-6 more years I'm guessing....so I left you know more then.
We rise early, carry people, more grocery bags than we should, bend over constantly, empty the dishwasher while holding a toddler on the other hip, tote a full laundry basket up a flight of stairs (yep..often with a baby in the basket too!), sprint full force after a small but mighty fast kid making his way straight for the street, miraculously catch falling kids from jungle gyms in the blink of any eye....if you're reading this you could probably fill in a whole list yourself.
So yes, we do need muscle. Lots of it! This realization took place for me personally after my second child was born and I began a class at the gym that included a new concept for me: strength training. For the first time ever, I felt stronger and began losing weight. Before kids I was always 15-20 pounds above where I should have been and not too happy about it. For some reason, having babies flipped a switch. Not only did I feel like I needed to be healthy, but I knew I'd need to keep up with them and I certainly did not want to give the "oh, once you have kids you're body's never the same" bit. Time is not your own, so any little bit you squeeze out is critical.
Then I found StrollerFit! I was a childbirth educator and a client mom to be came to me and said how am I ever going to get rid of this after she is born? I told her I'd find some baby friendly exercises and let her know the next week. At home on the computer...whla! StrollerFit found me. I instantly fell in love with the concept. I could work, bring my then 15 mo old(who had recently decided he could squeeze out a poop to fill his diaper in 10 minutes or less once dropped at the gym daycare) and 2 1/2 yr old with me and be a healthy example for my kids. Of course, I filled my client in on the concept too!
The last 3 years has been incredible for my own story but even more for the women that have come into my life. I wanted to begin this blog as a way to share with others how amazing women can be. And share all the stories women come to me with about what is working for them, how they feel, how they look and how their self esteem noticeably skyrockets.
AHAHHHH time to take my son to preschool...I'll check in soon!
