Fabulous Friday Fitness Challenge

It's Friday! Which means...it's time for another Fabulous Friday Fitness Challenge. Here we go!

Posture is a constant battle for most women. We don't think about it when we are kids, pregnancy changes the balance of our muscles and honestly many of us just don't have the strength to sit or stand up tall all day long. Those pushups from last week are a fabulous start to build the upper body strength. But today we'll start with posture basics.

Sit up tall in your chair, or stand up tall where ever you are reading this.
  • Shoulders down and back
  • Chest open and raised
  • Lengthen the spine
  • Tailbone points down toward the ground

Perfect, now lets add in some belly breathing to strengthen the abdominal muscles so you can maintain that perfect posture for longer.
  • Fill your lungs by taking a long slow breath through the nose.
  • Exhale like you are fogging a mirror, while pulling the naval in without rounding the spine.
  • Continue to exhale every last bit of air
  • Repeat 10 times

Belly breathing is a great do anywhere exercise for moms. You can do this in your car, while your kid is on time out, stirring oatmeal on the stove, sitting at your desk, watching a kids soccer game or even smiling for a picture. Try it and include your location in your comment below.
