This weekend we had a speaker at our moms in motion workout and I was so inspired I just had to "blog" it. The speaker addressed some issues on how we fuel our bodies, benefits of eating better, watching what foods we offer to our children, obesity, declining life expectancy's of our children's' generation, organic foods, etc... Some of this was too dramatic for my life style but the part that really stuck with me was the concept of eating whole foods.
This is something I always try to do, partly because I enjoy cooking, partly because I just know it has to be better for us to eat something fresh rather than out of a box, and it tastes better! But why not challenge myself to take it another step and actually add a fruit or vegetable to every meal? It's not that hard to cut up an apple or pull baby carrots from the fidge...and those are two things my kids aren't going to say "I don't like it" to when I serve them.
Then I took a dvd home that is called the Fitness Effect. It talks about balancing exercise, nutrition, hydration and supplements. The supplements are the Juice plus product the speaker above sells. Most of what was presented in the DVD are things I'm very familiar with and things I try to educate clients on, however it's always great to be reminded....and challenged. If you have a minute check out their website www.juiceplusfitnesseffect.com for some great basic information. So when I got home from my weekly shopping trip I filled the crisper and the tray on the counter with fruits and veggies. It's Tuesday and we're making a good dent in the pile. Yeah!
My new years resolution this year was to learn more about nutrition and do a better job of fueling my body for all I expect it to do for me. Leigh Hobson is a friend of mine, StrollerFit owner in Lodi, Juice plus distributor and someone who is well educated on nutrition. She and her friends did a great presentation for us, and I really learned quite a bit. The shopping list they handed out gave quite a few real life suggestions too.
Try this one for example, organic ketchup does not contain any high fructose corn syrup but still tastes great. How hard is that?
If you want more info on Juice Plus, the Fitness effect challenge or that great shopping list, please call Leigh Hobson at 209-470-2766.
