Second pregnancy...

This moment literally called out "BLOG ME!!!"

Ok, that's how I saw it anyhow. We were getting ready to begin a
restore the core™ class last night when a few moms started talking about pregnancy. Specifically, doing the class pregnant. Then it turned to the second pregnancy and how most of us pop out or get much larger quickly if our bodies have previously been pregnant.

This is when it got interesting ( I was listening as I set up my music and planning some last minute power moves, throwing in laughs here and there). Two moms agreed that they both are or were smaller with their second pregnancy's, both gaining less pounds as well. Hmmm, ponder, slight pause in the conversation, a sort of gasp if you will...then it happened.

"I actually attribute it to restore the core™", says mom one, who is several months into pregnancy #2, "I started restore the core™ after having my first, and if everything has returned to normal, or better, I think my strong core is why I haven't popped out so much this time."

Huge ah ha moment if you are me, teaching the class, lecturing about the benefits of a strong core for women in general, women who've had babies AND pregnant moms!

Turns out, mom #2 also did restore the core™ throughout her whole second pregnancy, gained less, and felt much smaller. Wow, that is powerful stuff.

Once again, I am left to think...I wish I'd done restore the core™ when I was pregnant!

If anyone reading was there last night, please add your comment. Curious to see if the moment was as fabulous as I thought it was.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. gobble gobble

Mystery mom two

She's got 5 kids I think...2 "handmade" and at least 3 adopted including individual challenges...hmmm I'll have to confirm my facts. But a full plate none the less. Still she comes to class very often, with a smile on her face and her adorable son(s). Inches have been lost and pounds have been shed over the last year give or take, that's obvious looking at her transform.

But this blog post is about something different. She told me one day that StrollerFit classes have changed her life. They gave her a chance to make new friends in a new community, focus on her own well being and get in great shape. Specifically the part that makes goose bumps go up my arms is when she said that coming to class in the morning helps her to deal with whatever comes her way for the rest of the day. I only have 2 kids and plenty of !$&#*%(^@ comes my way...she's got much more potential for (@#$&@(^$ if you ask me. That is really something to be said.

Women rule the world if you ask me, and if being a strong confident one makes it all just a little easier than I'll keep doing all I can to help.

Ahhhhhhh I know. I just LOVE cheesy what can I say. ;)

This blogging sure is addictive! I keep thinking of more to add.

No moms blog is complete without mention of her wonderful children. So here goes...

My children (currently 4 and 6 going on 25 at least) can each demonstrate a squat, think red light green light is played with walking lunges, can identify thier tricep muscles, lecture me (and anyone else) on "healthy choices" and often make suggestions of songs and exercises for classes.

I really believe this exercise is fun stuff is going to stick with them their whole lives. ;)
My rookie season as a moms in motion team leader just finished up earlier this month. I was amazed at how much fun it was, how many friends I made, how much of a contribution we made and how well everyone did.

Reaching goals from crossing the finish line, to running more than walking, running the whole 5K, raising overall fitness and improving a previous time were lofty and possible. Watching the pride on everyones face was fabulous. Not to mention hearing the moms and families cheering for each other through the race and as each crossed the finish line.

Our team donated over $430 in monetary donations, over $40 in gift cards and a FULL truck load of wish list items to My Sisters House. This is a local shelter for victims of domestic violence.

And moms have already started to join our team for January.

I honestly cannot imagine a job I would love more. Moms are just down right amazing. ;)

See if you can guess...she's a mom to 3 children under 4 years of age. Amazing friendly and attends nearly every restore the core and mommymuscle class there is. She also just completed a 5K with our recent moms in motion team.

She's melting away before our eyes, joining in June and staying committed has helped her to achieve great results. Not too long ago, she let me know about a shopping trip to get some clothes for a girls weekend. Two sizes smaller! Yipee, now that's something to jump around about.

Melting is one thing, but her self confidence is much higher, her family is very supportive or her and she's getting healthier by the minute.

This could actually be you....;)

Kelly

I received a GREAT call this weekend! Kelly, a client in both StrollerFit and moms in motion, can now officially do her age in pushups!!

Not many women can do 5 pushups (yes FULL pushups...on the toes) much less their age in push ups! This is a huge accomplishment, as it takes full body strength to do them.

Kelly began in June with 2 full pushups. Every other day doing 2 sets of pushups, tracking her progress and now less than 5 months later she's doing many more..no worry Kelly...I won't share your age. ;)

Visit www.strollerfit.com to find the "Do your age in push ups" plan.

While we are talking about Kelly, she's one of many success stories of our program. At her first class she only wanted to try a few classes and see what she thought. Soon she was enrolling as an unlimited member and participating in all our three class formats. mommymuscle sculpt, restore the core and StrollerFit. Her energy level is up, her strength improving daily, her self confidence soaring and her son sees how important exercise is for everyone.

I just began a second venture this Fall called moms in motion (www.momsinmotion.com) which organizes fitness teams for women. Kelly completed her first 5K run this past weekend!

Moms rock!

"Before StrollerFit, I thought I was in great shape. I worked out, played competitive soccer and ran often. StrollerFit, Restore the Core and Mommy Muscle Sculpt provided me the opportunity to redefine my body to a whole new level. Being pregnant with my second child and participating in all class formats was amazing. I can honestly say that I did not "feel" pregnant ... No back aches, no leg cramps, just strong and stable. Once I gave birth, the rewards of the StrollerFit programs were evident. Labor was quick and very easy (9 pushes) and within two weeks, I felt like new. I stood strong, my stomach was lean and I felt like I could take on the world. I cannot wait until I am released after my 6 week appointment to rejoin the classes. I know that these classes will take me back to my pre-first child weight. Yeah! I highly recommend all StrollerFit classes to anyone wanting to get fit or meet women just like you." - Tasha

So let the bragging about my incredible clients begin...

"After 8 weeks of doing Restore the Core once or twice a week, I lost a whole inch from my waist. Another 8 weeks, and another inch! In case I was questioning the integrity of the measuring...I went for the ultimate test. Jeans shopping! I found myself in a pair one size smaller than before I got pregnant. Best of all...I feel stronger, more balanced and more energetic. I even got one of my non-mommy friends to join!" - Sharlene

restore the core™ is for women of ALL AGES - dare to see and feel the results yourself!

YES! moms need, can have and should have muscle...

WHAT?!?!? Each and every day of a moms life is a marathon of sorts. Especially those early years when the kiddos are shorter than us. Mine will only be shorter for 5-6 more years I'm guessing....so I left you know more then.
We rise early, carry people, more grocery bags than we should, bend over constantly, empty the dishwasher while holding a toddler on the other hip, tote a full laundry basket up a flight of stairs (yep..often with a baby in the basket too!), sprint full force after a small but mighty fast kid making his way straight for the street, miraculously catch falling kids from jungle gyms in the blink of any eye....if you're reading this you could probably fill in a whole list yourself.

So yes, we do need muscle. Lots of it! This realization took place for me personally after my second child was born and I began a class at the gym that included a new concept for me: strength training. For the first time ever, I felt stronger and began losing weight. Before kids I was always 15-20 pounds above where I should have been and not too happy about it. For some reason, having babies flipped a switch. Not only did I feel like I needed to be healthy, but I knew I'd need to keep up with them and I certainly did not want to give the "oh, once you have kids you're body's never the same" bit. Time is not your own, so any little bit you squeeze out is critical.

Then I found StrollerFit! I was a childbirth educator and a client mom to be came to me and said how am I ever going to get rid of this after she is born? I told her I'd find some baby friendly exercises and let her know the next week. At home on the computer...whla! StrollerFit found me. I instantly fell in love with the concept. I could work, bring my then 15 mo old(who had recently decided he could squeeze out a poop to fill his diaper in 10 minutes or less once dropped at the gym daycare) and 2 1/2 yr old with me and be a healthy example for my kids. Of course, I filled my client in on the concept too!

The last 3 years has been incredible for my own story but even more for the women that have come into my life. I wanted to begin this blog as a way to share with others how amazing women can be. And share all the stories women come to me with about what is working for them, how they feel, how they look and how their self esteem noticeably skyrockets.

AHAHHHH time to take my son to preschool...I'll check in soon!
